We aim to unite the body of Christ at Cornell by creating a culture of gospel centered discipleship through promoting and planning events that encourage edifying worship, great preaching and teaching, life changing community, strong emphasis on evangelism, concern for social justice, and cultural engagement.
The vision of Campus On A Hill is the ongoing process of mobilizing the whole Body of Christ at Cornell and in Ithaca to strategically focus all of its resources on reaching the whole campus with the whole Gospel, resulting in the redemption of society and the transformation of the community. Ultimately, Campus On A Hill is simply about JESUS – to know him and to make him known. Revival will come when we set our eyes on the only thing that is needed: Jesus Christ.
OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
SECTION 1: GOD
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons. They are equal in every divine perfection, and they work distinctly but harmoniously.
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He led a sinless life, and is both fully God and fully man. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven.
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, producing fruit and enabling gifts for the edification of the body, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
SECTION 2: THE BIBLE
The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible, God’s infallible written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that it was uniquely, verbally and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it was written without error in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of life.
SECTION 3: MAN
We believe that God created man in His own image.
We believe that God has written eternity on man’s hearts, and created man to know and enjoy Him in an eternal relationship.
We believe that man is physically alive but spiritually dead. Ever since the fall, man has always sinned against God and all fall short of His glory.
SECTION 4: SALVATION
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith. Christ became the substitute and propitiation for our sins, justifying us before God.
Christ lived the life we could never have lived and died the death we should have died. Through his resurrection, death is conquered and we are joined with him in new life.
SECTION 5: RAISED WITH CHRIST
We believe that Christians are being regenerated. Christians have new life, and they are a new creation, born again into a new and living hope. The focus changes from self-glorification and self-reliance to God-glorification, finding fulfillment in Christ. This change is part of a lifelong process, carried out by God’s grace, into eternity.
SECTION 6: VISIBLE RETURN OF CHRIST
We believe in the victorious reign and future personal return of Jesus Christ, who will judge all people with justice and mercy, giving over the unrepentant to eternal condemnation but receiving the redeemed into eternal life.
